Summer Arts Camp

EVENTS

Silent Auction
The Silent Auction is held in conjunction with the Ruston Civic Symphony Mardi Gras Ball each February. Many of our finest local artist donate to the auction along with the area merchants. The combination of great dining, dancing, community and good natured competition over the auction results in memorable evenings.

Peach Festival Fine Arts Exhibition
Held in conjunction with Ruston's Peach Festival, this annual exhibition is a juried show held in high regard as it promotes the talents of local and regional artists of all ages. Local businesses and arts patrons contribute cash awards for prize-winning artists in seven categories: Adult: Opaque, Transparent, Miscellaneous, Original Crafts, Photography; children: Open through age 12, Open, ages 13-18.

Studio Tour
This
annual event, held in November, is to promote artists in this region. The goal is to provide a venue to present regional artists and musicians to the public, to provide an opportunity for artist revenues and stimulate the local economy. The tour has grown from 9 to 32 sites since 2002.

Seventeen years and counting!
NCLAC's Summer Arts Camps have become a staple in our five parish area. These camps are a great opportunity for our young people to experience quality art instruction in a fun environment at a great price. Throughout the week long (morning only) camps children grades 1-6 are offered instruction each day in three
areas; two-dimensional art (painting, drawing),

three-dimensional art (hands-on crafts), and drama. We are fortunate to have a recurring staff of certified teachers and enthusiastic volunteers that help keep this program running year after year.

Beginning in June the camps are held consecutively in Farmerville, Jonesboro, Homer, Arcadia and Ruston.

With the assistance of our generous sponsors, especially Saint-Gobain Containers, we have been able to keep our cost down to just $50 per child.

If you have a child that would like to attend Art Camp you can download the form here and e-mail it to us or call 318-255-1450.

Drama Warehouse

ArtMobile

An ongoing theatrical performance program for youth in grades 7-12, the program provides hands-on experience to learn all aspects of theatre, including acting, costuming, set construction, lighting and sound. The goal of Drama Warehouse is to help develop creativity, social skills, goal achievement, communication skills and self-esteem in youth. The exploration and participation in the theatre performance as well as the visualization and creation of art by the students are the focus of this performing arts program.

The ArtMobile is a 40+ foot mobile gallery containing original works of art from the Arkansas Arts Center in Little Rock.

The Artmobile provides a quality visual arts experience for those whose distance from an art museum prohibits regular visits. This display is appropriate for all age groups and is wheelchair accessible. An art educator travels with the Artmobile to conduct guided tours and further enhance the educational opportunities of a visit.

The Art of Film

Each fourth Thursday evening at 5:30 pm, come to Lincoln Parish Library for the Art of Film Series, co-presented by LPL and NCLAC. Megan, our cultural attaché at the library, works very hard to ensure that these evening films become much more than just "movie night", but truly an event.  For details on upcoming events and to make film suggestions, contact Megan Davenport at 513-6411 or teen@mylpl.org.
