NCLAC brings in special guest artists from around the country to perform in North Central Louisiana, in notable historic venues such as the Dixie Center for the Arts, Railroad Park, and the Lincoln Parish Museum.

Bearfoot (School Show)
October 12th, 2011 at 10am (Dixie Center for the Arts)
The North Central Louisiana Arts Council will partner with the Dixie Center for the Arts to present a performance by the Blugrass band "Bearfoot". This school presentation will be part of a three day residency for the group and will be for sixth grade students at I.A. Lewis. This quintet, originally from Alaska, will educate students about the history and art form of bluegrass.
This performace is funded in part by a grant from South Arts in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and the Louisiana Division of the Arts.
Admission will be free.
An Evening with Laverne Butler
January 19, 2012 at 7:00p.m. (Dixie Center for the Arts)
The North Central Louisiana Arts Council will host a concert with Louisiana native and internationally renowned jass singer LaVerne Butler. She will be accompanied by a quartet of regional musicians from throughout the state of Louisiana.
Originally from Shreveport, Butler began singing professionally with her father, Scott Butler, when she was 13 years old. Later, as a student at the University of New Orleans, she worked with jazz legends Henry Butler and Alvin Batiste. She moved to New York in 1984, at the urging of Jon Hendrix, and recorded four highly regarded albums: No Looking Back and Day Dreamin' for Chesky Records, and Blues in the City and A Foolish Thing to Do for Maxjazz. Blues in the City was number one on the jazz charts in 1999.
