Arts Afloat 2010-2011

NCLAC Announces $10,000 Winner

On Sunday, June 19, the North Central Louisiana Arts Council (NCLAC) held the Grand Prize drawing for $10,000, which concluded its annual Keep the Arts Afloat fundraiser. A total of 250 tickets were sold at $100 each to arts supporters across the region, raising $15,000 to support NCLAC and its programs.

The drawing was held during the opening reception for NCLAC’s 24th Annual Peach Festival Art Exhibition and confirmed Josh and Rachel Shirley of Ruston as the lucky winners.

Josh, who is the manager of Raising Canes in Ruston, purchased multiple tickets to increase his odds in the drawing. But he was still surprised to learn his name had been drawn. He and his wife Rachel generously decided to give $3000 back to NCLAC and to give $2000 to other charities. The young couple plans to spend the remainder on a romantic vacation for the two of them.
